Being a leader is hard enough, being an effective leader is even harder. Isn't it?

We believe that personal effectiveness forms a foundation to leadership - if you cannot deal with your own problems, you will find it much harder to show others the way.

Our approach to leadership therefore includes the various elements of personal effectiveness as part of our "Readiness" theme.

The 4 aspects of being effective are all critical in terms of leadership.

If we are not aware of our own knowledge and capabilities, we cannot deliver optimal value.

Should we find that solving problems is a difficulty generally or that we cannot manage our time effectively, it is very difficult to inspire confidence in our teams.

If we cannot work with others, who will we be leading?

An inability to see the big picture means we have little to offer our team, so why should they stay loyal?


Being a leader is about more than having a bigger desk! It is about offering value for your team members as well as the organisation. We therefore focus on both sets of value-adding:

  • Value adding to individual members of the team - what they can learn from you, what opportunities you can offer them and what "goodies" you can give them
  • Value adding to your organisation - how to leverage your leadership into building up and maintaining a high performance team
