What's the Book going to be about?
The book is an introduction to sustainable construction. It will include some background on sustainability as well as a review of the construction process from investment through planning and design to building and usage. It will NOT be about technology, products, environmental management or legislation. It will be about managing sustainability as a business activity. Find out more details about the book here.
Is it going to be boring to read?
I've read plenty of turgid and boring books and I have no intention to put anyone through that. This is a book that is meant to be used in everyday work situations. It will include suggestions, hints and tips from colleagues in the construction industry and also from well-tested world class tools.
Has anything like this been written before?
No, in our search (end-Dec. 2006) on Amazon.com and Amazon.co.uk, there were no books published with this particular subject matter.
There are many publications about the environmental aspects of sustainability as well as compliance with legislation. The trade press has regular articles on sustainability in construction. But our knowledge, there has not been a publication on managing sustainability as a day-to-day business practice.
When will the book be coming out?
Gower, my publishers, are planning for a 2010 launch.
Will it be expensive?
No, it will be very good value as it includes tools, case studies and a CD with templates for you to start your own sustainable construction campaign.

I certainly hope so! But seriously, making a fortune is not an objective of this book. The aim is for the whole industry to share best practice and knowledge so that everyone benefits.
